After I'm Gone
You've wandered into a heavy corner of my territory.
Everyone dies, and how to face that is maybe one of life's biggest questions. This page records how I'd like this territory handled if I'm no longer around.
I'd like my territory -- everything that makes up this blog -- handed over to my family and friends to deal with. If possible, I'd like the site archived on the Internet Archive.
As for my social media accounts, I'd like them all set to memorial status (if they have that of course).
That covers the digital assets. Now, what to do with my body.
First, I want my tombstone engraved with:
- Adventure Mode LEVEL 1-1
- Mini-Games
- Puzzle Mode
- Survival Mode
In case you're wondering where those come from... Plants vs. Zombies.
If a proper plot is too expensive, that's fine too. A small carved stone at home works just as well.
I actually had a portrait taken back in high school for exactly this purpose, and it's sitting on my iPad right now. The photos my family takes of me are genuinely too ugly, so please use that one -- unless something better comes along.
Second, I'd like my ashes pressed into a vinyl record. The recording itself can be anything -- maybe a line like I'm right behind you, or I remember everything you did..., or I'm not letting you off the hook. Actually, that's too creepy, let's not. And much as I'd love to, let's also skip pressing in a recording of Good Luck or anything like that!
The backup plan is dumping the ashes into a powdered-milk tin. Every year on the anniversary, I'd love for friends and family to carry that tin around and prank people with it -- I know ashes look nothing like milk powder, I just want to reenact a scene from iPartment.
Speaking of the body, organ donation is worth addressing too. I don't want to donate within the US -- I'm a little worried about ending up as a cadaver used for bomb-testing -- unless you can be sure my organs will go somewhere proper and humane, which of course means helping people with disabilities.
If I come up with more thoughts down the line, I'll update this page.
